The 2005 Steelers Used to Take a Train to NYC Almost Every Week After a Game to Party
The 2005 Steelers won the Super Bowl. But a report during the season came out in Sports Illustrated that the defense was “getting out of hand” during their time off. It turns out, what that comment meant, was that the starting defense would rent out a train car and take an Amtrak from Pittsburgh to New York City after a game to party. If not that, they’d fly to Miami, Vegas, and other hot spots to get wild for the night.
How was this possible? Well, Mondays are players’ off days, so the team would go out on Sunday Night after the game and come back Monday morning. It’s these type of stories that make youths want to be pro athletes.
Check out this story and many many more in a wild interview with 12-year Steelers Cornerback, Ike Taylor on this week’s episode of Surf & Turf.
